Backend Platform Engineer
Job Summary
Supporting an external software development organization, the remote Backend Platform Engineer will design, build, and operate core services for an enterprise AI platform, managing services end to end from design to support.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement backend services, APIs, and integration frameworks for the AI platform
- Collaborate with client product, engineering, and data stakeholders to ensure service reliability and performance
- Oversee the complete service lifecycle, including testing, deployment, monitoring, and support
Required qualifications
- Experience building and operating production backend, API, or distributed platform services
- Strong software engineering skills with a focus on reliable and maintainable service design
- Familiarity with multi-tenant systems, service boundaries, and platform enforcement patterns
- Ability to design APIs and developer experiences for both internal and external users
- Experience with operational failure modes, retries, and consistency in distributed systems
