Backend Software Engineer

Job Summary

Designing and building a next-generation reliability platform for Affirm's production systems, the full-time remote Backend Software Engineer will create a centralized reliability command center, develop AI agents for incident management, and deliver developer-facing features while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Build a centralized reliability command center for unified system health monitoring
• Create AI agents to assist with incident triage and root-cause exploration
• Develop features and APIs that enhance data exploration and debugging for engineers

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience
• 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer
• Strong proficiency in Python with experience in data-intensive applications and robust APIs
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor or Claude
• Practical use of LLMs or AI frameworks for automation and guidance
