Backend Software Engineer

Job Summary

To support a growing technology initiative, the contract Backend Software Engineer will focus on building web services and data pipelines using Scala and Java while working remotely for a duration of 12 months.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend applications, including web services and data pipelines
• Utilize Akka/Pekko frameworks for high-concurrency and distributed architecture
• Implement CI/CD pipelines and optimize SQL queries for performance

Required qualifications

• 2-3 years of hands-on experience with Scala and strong experience with Java 17+
• Proficiency in functional programming and experience with Cats/Cats Effect
• Strong knowledge of AWS services, including IAM, Kinesis, and DynamoDB
• Experience in building high availability and scalable systems
• 8+ years of overall experience in backend development and distributed systems
