Backend Software Engineer

Job Summary

To support a high-impact defense mission, the mainly remote Backend Software Engineer will design, build, and integrate secure backend services and APIs using Python and/or C#, with onsite sprint planning in Laurel, Maryland approximately every six weeks.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop secure backend services and APIs, ensuring integration and testing with technologies like FastAPI and gRPC
• Build reliable asynchronous workflows and manage data solutions using PostgreSQL and PostGIS
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in code reviews and vulnerability remediation efforts

Required qualifications

• At least four years of professional software-development experience
• A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
• Hands-on experience with backend services, APIs, or distributed applications
• Proficiency in Python, C#, or a comparable backend language
• Understanding of secure software-development lifecycle practices
