Backend Software Engineer
Job Summary
Building and maintaining backend services and APIs, the full-time Backend Software Engineer will work remotely to enhance Self Financial's mobile app and web experiences while collaborating with a high-performing engineering team.
Key responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs using Python, Flask, and FastAPI
- Implement REST endpoints for web and mobile clients, focusing on scalability and long-term maintainability
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to scope and deliver user-focused improvements while ensuring code quality through reviews and best practices
Required qualifications
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with ownership of backend services in production
- Strong working knowledge of Python and understanding of web application fundamentals
- Experience with REST APIs and relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL)
- Comfort with Git and common software development workflows
- Proven track record of writing reliable, tested, secure, and maintainable code
