Backend Software Engineer

Job Summary

As a full-time Backend Software Engineer on the Data Layer team, the successful candidate will design, build, and maintain backend services for process data storage and querying, ensuring performance and scalability in a fully remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and maintain backend services for the data layer, focusing on relational databases and Elasticsearch/OpenSearch
• Own end-to-end delivery of engineering initiatives, collaborating with Product Management to translate requirements into solution designs
• Enhance data processing and retention methods to meet customer needs and improve secondary storage system performance

Required qualifications

• At least 4 years of experience as a backend engineer with a focus on production data stores
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, MSSQL, or Elasticsearch/OpenSearch
• Experience in breaking down complex engineering requirements into actionable tasks and delivering high-quality results
• Ability to investigate and resolve data-related production issues, including slow queries and execution plans
• Strong collaboration skills in a remote-first environment, effectively translating requirements into technical work
