Backend Staff Engineer

Job Summary

Working remotely or onsite in Kelowna, British Columbia, the full-time Backend Staff Engineer will lead the technical direction for backend services of the MONOPOLY GO! Chat app, focusing on building scalable social features and ensuring system reliability and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical direction for backend services, APIs, and real-time communication systems
• Design and build scalable chat features, including messaging, notifications, and user interactions
• Mentor engineers and guide the team in adopting strong engineering practices and technical decision-making

Required qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience in backend service development for mobile apps or complex products
• Deep expertise in C#, ASP.NET, and production-level backend service development
• Strong systems design skills, particularly in distributed systems and API design
• Experience building cloud-native services on AWS and designing high-throughput, low-latency systems
• Solid understanding of application security concepts and best practices
