Backend Systems Engineer

Job Summary

To support a growing team, the full-time Backend Systems Engineer will design, implement, and scale infrastructure from early-stage to production-scale deployment, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams in a remote or Vancouver-based environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable backend systems that transition from prototype to production scale
• Build and maintain high-performance, distributed systems with a focus on database design and optimization
• Manage cloud infrastructure and containerization using tools like Kubernetes and Docker

Required qualifications

• Strong experience in database design, optimization, and management
• Proven track record of scaling systems from prototype to production for 10+ to 100k+ users
• Expertise in system monitoring, logging, and observability
• Experience with load balancing, caching strategies, and performance optimization
• Proficiency in implementing security best practices and data protection
