Behavioral Health Authorization Specialist

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Behavioral Health Authorization and Verification Specialist.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect accurate patient information and communicate authorization decisions with behavioral health providers and their billing teams
• Verify patient eligibility and benefits with insurers, completing prior authorizations efficiently through portals or direct communication
• Manage multiple prior authorizations simultaneously while understanding specialty-specific workflows and collaborating with product teams to automate processes

Required Qualifications

• Strong understanding of insurance policies and billing processes in behavioral health
• 3+ years of experience in completing prior authorizations for behavioral health services
• Knowledge of benefits including deductibles, co-insurance, and exclusions
• Familiarity with payor portals and experience in communicating with payors
• Experience with Electronic Medical Record Systems (EMR/EHR) is a plus
