BI Analyst - Semantic Layer

Job Summary

To support a growing data-first company, the full-time BI Analyst - Semantic Layer will author and maintain semantic layer definitions, manage the metric definition lifecycle, and collaborate with business stakeholders to drive data literacy, all while working remotely from the Chicago area.

Key responsibilities:

• Author and maintain semantic layer definitions, writing and managing metric, dimension, and hierarchy definitions as code
• Run the metric definition lifecycle, collaborating with business stakeholders for certification and publication of metrics
• Drive data literacy initiatives, conducting onboarding sessions and office hours to promote the use of governed data

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 5+ years of experience in analytics engineering, business intelligence, or data governance with strong SQL skills
• Hands-on experience authoring and maintaining models in a semantic layer or metrics layer tool
• Strong understanding of dimensional modeling fundamentals and governance processes involving business stakeholders
• Experience with a data catalog tool for managing glossary and business-term content
