Bilingual Patient Financial Advocate

Job Summary

Providing financial counseling to uninsured and underinsured patients, the full-time Bilingual Patient Financial Advocate will assist in determining medical assistance eligibility and processing applications for various financial assistance programs while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Processes financial assistance applications and verifies patient information for completeness and accuracy
• Collects patient payments and accurately posts them in the system while documenting all interactions in charity software and/or EPIC
• Identifies individuals eligible for state or federally funded programs and provides education on available health plans

Required qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in healthcare revenue cycle, patient access, or customer service roles
• Knowledge of the Affordable Care Act, insurance billing, medical terminology, and reimbursement practices
• Proficiency in interpreting insurance Explanation of Benefits
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications and electronic health record systems
• Bilingual Spanish speaking is preferred
