Billing Specialist

Job Summary

Billing Specialist is a full-time position responsible for the timely submission of medical claims to insurance companies and ensuring compliance with billing guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Verify patient, billing, and claim information for accuracy using various hospital/physician systems
• Perform primary, secondary, and tertiary billing functions, including electronic and paper submissions to payers
• Monitor claims for missing information and maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with guidelines

Required Qualifications

• 1-2 years of medical collections/billing experience
• Basic knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and NCCI
• Familiarity with third-party billing guidelines and claim forms (UB04/1500)
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
• Basic understanding of health information systems (e.g., EMR, Claim Scrubbers)
