Billing Specialist - NE Licensed

Job Summary

To support billing operations for critical access hospitals and rural health clinics, the full-time Billing Specialist - NE Licensed will manage billing processes, ensure compliance with reimbursement methodologies, and mentor other billing staff while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate and implement billing processes specific to critical access hospitals and rural health clinics, ensuring compliance with reimbursement methodologies
• Process electronic and paper claims accurately, resolve claim errors, and follow up on underpaid or unpaid claims
• Serve as a subject matter expert, mentoring team members and assisting with complex billing issues related to facility claims

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of medical billing experience required, with a strong emphasis on critical access hospital billing preferred
• Proven experience with facility-based claims and UB-04 billing
• Strong knowledge of medical and insurance terminology
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; knowledge of Nebraska payer rules is a plus
