Bioinformatics Engineer

Job Summary

Driving technical solutions in a full-time remote capacity, the Bioinformatics Engineer II will design and develop custom software, mentor junior engineers, and engage with stakeholders to clarify workflows and requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Drive end-to-end technical solutions from ideation to release, including estimating time and complexity
• Provide clear feedback on code reviews and mentor junior engineers to set standards for excellence
• Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to understand workflows and address development blockers in a timely manner

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of experience, Master's degree with at least 2 years of experience, or PhD in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a related field
• Proficient in Python coding and experienced in Linux environments
• Intermediate-to-advanced experience with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL
• Proficiency in software engineering best practices, including git version control and unit testing
• Knowledge of next-generation sequencing technologies and standard bioinformatics data formats
