Biotechnology Attorney

Job Summary

To support a mission-driven nonprofit organization, the part-time Biotechnology Attorney will draft, review, and negotiate agreements related to biotechnology assets, focusing on Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs), licensing, and data use while working remotely for 10-20 hours per week.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate agreements for the transfer, licensing, and stewardship of biotechnology assets
• Advise on intellectual property, publication rights, and data use issues in research and technology transfer environments
• Create templates and playbooks to streamline legal processes related to biotechnology transactions

Required qualifications

• Prior experience with life sciences transactions, including MTAs, licensing agreements, and research collaboration agreements
• Experience in a university tech transfer office or biotech company is desirable
• Familiarity with executing tech transfer work for a U.S. 501(c)(3) public charity is a plus
• Strong understanding of intellectual property and data use regulations
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment while managing multiple tasks
