Job Summary

To support the Sikh History Project, the part-time Translator specializing in Braj will produce high-quality translations of historical and theological texts from Braj or Persian into accessible English while collaborating with researchers and advisors remotely.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with researchers to identify texts for translation and estimate timelines
• Translate primary sources from the 1400s to the 1800s, ensuring clarity and cultural context
• Incorporate feedback from Subject Matter Experts and maintain consistency in terminology across translations

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise in Braj
• Strong command of English with the ability to produce clear and readable prose
• Ability to read Gurmukhi
• Experience working with historical texts and manuscripts
• Familiarity with South Asian historical contexts and Sikh history
