Business Intelligence Engineer

Job Summary

Working remotely on a contract basis, the Advisory Business Intelligence Engineer will design and implement enterprise-grade semantic models using Databricks, mentor junior engineers, and advise leadership on data practices.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of enterprise semantic layers utilizing Databricks Lakehouse and Unity Catalog
• Provide hands-on development in SQL and Python, focusing on complex transformations and model optimization
• Mentor junior BI engineers and act as a trusted advisor on BI architecture and data governance

Required qualifications

• 8-12 years of experience in Business Intelligence Engineering, Data Engineering, or Analytics Engineering
• Deep expertise in Databricks, including Lakehouse architecture and Unity Catalog
• Strong command of SQL, Python, and CI/CD workflows
• Proven experience building enterprise semantic layers and dimensional models using Kimball principles
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and influence architectural decisions
