California Authorization Coordinator

Job Summary

To support patient care initiatives, the full-time California Authorization Coordinator will verify patient eligibility, coordinate benefits, and obtain necessary prior authorizations while working remotely within the Sutter Health Northern California footprint.

Key responsibilities

• Verify patient eligibility and insurance coverage for medical orders
• Obtain prior authorizations as needed and document in the electronic medical record
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding authorizations within established turnaround standards

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• One year of recent relevant experience in a healthcare setting
• Knowledge of medical terminology and coding (CPT, HCPCS, ICD-9)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Excel and Word
• Ability to maintain composure in challenging interpersonal interactions
