Job Summary

To ensure accurate coding for reimbursement and compliance, the part-time Sr. Certified Coder will review SDS and OBV records, assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes, and collaborate with departmental leadership while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Abstracts and assigns diagnosis and procedure codes from patient records to ensure accurate APC assignment
• Audits medical records for compliance with coding guidelines and federal/state regulations
• Provides coding feedback and education to departmental leadership regarding documentation accuracy

Required qualifications

• High School Education/GED or equivalent required; Associate's/Technical Degree preferred
• AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification required
• Three years of coding and healthcare experience required
• Working knowledge of hospital Cerner EMR required
• Understanding of ICD-10-CM coding guidelines and conventions
