Job Summary

Reviewing inpatient records for accurate coding, the remote Sr. Certified Coder will abstract and assign ICD-10-CM and PCS codes, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and collaborating with various departments to enhance documentation quality.

Key responsibilities

• Abstract and assign diagnosis and procedure codes from inpatient records, ensuring accurate MS-DRG and APR-DRG assignment
• Communicate with departments regarding charge corrections and audit medical records for compliance with coding regulations
• Provide coding feedback and education to departmental leadership to improve documentation completeness and accuracy

Required qualifications

• High School Education/GED or equivalent required; Associate's/Technical Degree preferred
• AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification required
• Working knowledge of hospital Cerner EMR required
• Three years of inpatient coding experience preferred
• Experience in a health care setting required
