Job Summary

Reviewing inpatient records for accurate coding, the part-time remote Sr. Certified Coder, Acute Inpatient will ensure compliance with coding conventions and guidelines while collaborating with various departments to support documentation integrity and reimbursement processes.

Key responsibilities:

• Abstracts and assigns ICD-10-CM diagnosis and PCS codes to ensure accurate MS-DRG and APR-DRG assignment
• Audits medical records for proper coding and compliance with federal and state regulations
• Collaborates with departmental leadership to provide coding feedback and education on documentation practices

Required qualifications:

• High School Education/GED or equivalent required
• AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification required
• Working knowledge of hospital Cerner EMR (electronic medical record) required
• Experience in a healthcare setting required
• Three years of inpatient coding experience preferred
