California Certified Lead Coder

Job Summary

To support outpatient coding accuracy, the full-time Lead Certified Coder, Outpatient SDS-OBV will review records, validate diagnosis and procedure codes, and provide education and feedback to coding associates in a remote setting.

Key responsibilities

• Review and validate SDS and OBV records for accurate coding in compliance with guidelines
• Conduct outpatient audits and maintain spreadsheets related to coding denials and audits
• Provide training and coding feedback to associates and leadership to enhance documentation practices

Required qualifications

• High School Education/GED or equivalent
• AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification
• Five years of experience in SDS/OBV coding and healthcare
• Working knowledge of hospital Cerner EMR (electronic medical record)
