Job Summary
Working remotely in a full-time capacity, the California Disability Benefit Specialist will evaluate claims, determine benefit eligibility, and guide employees toward successful return-to-work strategies while managing a caseload of disability claims.
Key responsibilities
- Manages assigned caseload of Short Term and Long Term Disability claims, ensuring accurate eligibility and liability decisions
- Communicates with claimants, employers, and medical professionals to gather information and provide timely benefit determinations
- Analyzes claims activity and prepares reports for clients and management while ensuring a seamless transition from STD to LTD claims
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
- 2+ years of experience in STD/LTD claims adjudication
- Knowledge of ERISA regulations and Social Security procedures
- Experience with FMLA/State leave claims is a plus
- Aptitude for learning medical terminology and interpreting procedures and regulations
