California Governance Strategy Director

Job Summary

Leading California's governance strategy, the full-time remote California Governance Strategy Director will ensure strategic alignment among governance structures, regional leadership, and staff teams while developing and implementing co-governance strategies to strengthen the party's political infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement statewide political and governance strategies
• Serve as the primary staff lead for the California State Steering Committee, facilitating meetings and tracking implementation
• Build and maintain relationships with elected officials and coalition partners to support governance and strategic initiatives

Required qualifications

• At least 8 years of experience in political, labor, advocacy, or democratic organizations
• Deep experience managing coalitions, steering committees, or other governing bodies
• Proven experience in managing staff and building strong, trust-based relationships
• Experience working with elected officials and community organizations on shared political priorities
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for facilitating complex discussions
