Job Summary
Overseeing daily leave operations, the full-time California Leave of Absence Specialist will manage a specialized administrative team, ensure compliance with federal and California-specific leave laws, and drive team productivity in a remote setting.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage daily workflows, assign tasks, conduct training, and lead the hiring and onboarding of team members while developing formal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Serve as the primary technical escalation point for complex cases, ensuring adherence to federal and state regulations
- Oversee the continuation of group health benefits and premium collection processes across various leave types, including FMLA and CFRA
Required qualifications:
- 4-7 years of multi-state leave administration experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or senior HR role
- Strong proficiency in MS Office; experience with Workday and AbsenceSoft is highly preferred
- Deep understanding of California-specific leave laws (CFRA, PDL, PFL) and federal regulations
- Certified Leave Management Specialist designation is a plus
- Ability to handle confidential data with discretion and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
