California Licensed Accounting Director

Job Summary

Owning the accounting and compliance functions for a fast-growing multi-state business, the full-time California Licensed Accounting Director will manage financial reporting, oversee multi-state payroll, and ensure regulatory compliance while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close, ensuring accuracy in reporting and analysis of financial statements
• Oversee multi-state payroll operations, ensuring compliance with wage calculations and tax withholdings across multiple jurisdictions
• Manage the company's compliance function, maintaining all necessary business licenses, health permits, and regulatory obligations

Required qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in accounting with a focus on financial statements and close processes
• CPA certification is strongly preferred
• Proficient in GAAP and financial reporting, with experience in the full accounting cycle
• Experience managing multi-state payroll and regulatory compliance
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
