Job Summary
Providing legal counsel and support to the Power Supply team, the full-time California Licensed Assistant General Counsel will negotiate power purchase agreements, advise on regulatory compliance, and manage legal aspects of energy procurement in a hybrid or remote work environment.
Key responsibilities
- Act as counsel in negotiating power contracts and competitive solicitations for energy procurement
- Advise on market operations, including onboarding new resources and asset management
- Assist in regulatory compliance reporting and communications with regulatory agencies
Required qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to the California State Bar
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in energy, regulatory, or administrative law, with at least 5 years of legal experience
- Expertise in energy sector contracting, including familiarity with EEI and WSPP agreements
- Working knowledge of California Independent System Operators (CAISO) and its regulations
- Experience in a top-tier law firm or relevant in-house legal role is preferred
