California Licensed Cancer Registrar

Job Summary

To support ongoing cancer research and patient care, the part-time California Licensed Cancer Registrar will collect and document data on malignancies, ensuring compliance with reporting guidelines while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Reviews patient treatment reports to identify new cases of malignant diseases and abstracts core information from medical records
• Enters data in accordance with State of California and ACoS reporting guidelines, providing follow-up information for external requests
• Maintains communication with the medical community and assists in data retrieval for cancer-related studies and quality assurance initiatives

Required qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training
• Two years in an allied health profession with at least one year as a Cancer Registrar or completion of the Cancer Information Management program
• Working knowledge of anatomy and physiology, basic statistics, and medical records operations
• Current certification by the National Cancer Registrars Association or ability to obtain CTR certification within one year of employment
