California Licensed Chat Counselor

Job Summary

Providing crisis intervention and emotional support, the part-time California Licensed Chat Counselor will offer assistance through chat and text services, working remotely for 24 hours per week with a schedule that includes weekends and evenings.

Key responsibilities

• Offers crisis-counseling services via chat and text, completing risk assessments and safety planning
• Maintains accurate documentation of interactions in real time and responds to multiple concurrent inquiries
• Participates in community outreach and assists in training new counselors as needed

Required qualifications

• Minimum of six months of relevant behavioral health experience, with one year in crisis intervention or suicide prevention preferred
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent and be at least 18 years old
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage empathetically with diverse individuals
• Demonstrated ability to effectively use web-based platforms and electronic documentation systems
• Open availability and flexibility to work within the program's operating hours, including weekends and holidays
