Job Summary
To support numerous natural resource projects, the on-call California Licensed Field Biologist will conduct biological surveys and regulatory compliance monitoring for special status species in southern California, with a focus on Crotch's Bumble Bee, Quino checkerspot butterfly, western spadefoot, and Stephen's kangaroo rat, while working remotely and being available for local field assignments.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead and conduct biological surveys and monitoring for special status species, including Crotch's Bumble Bee and Quino checkerspot butterfly
- Perform general wildlife and botanical surveys, including habitat mapping and vegetation assessments
- Support project execution and environmental compliance monitoring, ensuring adherence to established protocols
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in biology, ecology, or a related field
- Four years of relevant experience in southern California ecoregions, specifically with listed species
- Valid US Driver's License and pre-employment driving record verification
- US Citizenship is required due to the nature of the work
- Experience conducting biological surveys and environmental compliance monitoring preferred
