California Licensed General Counsel
Job Summary
Leading the legal team in a fully remote capacity, the California Licensed General Counsel will provide strategic legal counsel to executive leadership, manage regulatory compliance, oversee corporate governance, and direct transactional matters across the organization.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, advising on legal, regulatory, and compliance risks
- Oversee corporate governance activities and ensure compliance with fiduciary duties and best practices
- Lead legal aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and commercial transactions while managing outside counsel and legal resources
Required qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school
- Active license and good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant legal experience, with significant in-house legal leadership experience
- Experience in overseeing mergers and acquisitions, litigation, and regulatory compliance
- Insurance industry experience is required
