California Licensed Head of Legal

Job Summary

Seeking a pragmatic, hands-on California Licensed Head of Legal to build and oversee the legal function for a remote, fast-growing AI-native B2B SaaS company, responsible for drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, providing legal guidance on compliance and employment matters, and developing scalable legal processes.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements while collaborating with leadership to balance legal protection and business goals
• Advise on legal compliance and employment-related matters, providing guidance on sensitive employee situations and risk assessments
• Build and maintain efficient legal processes and workflows, proactively identifying legal risks and serving as a trusted advisor to leadership

Required qualifications

• Active license to practice law in the U.S.; California bar membership preferred
• 8-15+ years of legal experience in commercial/tech transactions, product counseling, compliance, and employment law
• Proven track record in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, including MSAs and NDAs
• Experience advising high-growth SaaS or technology companies on legal matters
• Ability to operate across multiple legal domains in a fast-paced environment, with strong prioritization and judgment skills
