California Licensed Head of Product Development

Job Summary

Leading the product lifecycle, the California Licensed Head of Product Development will oversee research, formulation, packaging design, clinical testing, and production in a hybrid role based in Los Angeles, CA, ensuring that all initiatives meet timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the entire development process from initial research to production, ensuring all milestones are achieved on time
• Manage external relationships with formulators, contract manufacturers, and packaging engineers to drive project success
• Coach and develop the Product Development team, fostering a high-performance culture aligned with company growth

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field; scientific or technical degrees strongly preferred
• 8+ years of experience in product development within the personal care or beauty industry, with direct FDA OTC (sunscreen) experience required
• Proven expertise in leading end-to-end product development with various external partners
• Exceptional project management skills with the ability to manage multiple complex projects and aggressive timelines
• Extensive experience with product testing (analytical, sensory, clinical, and perceptual)
