Job Summary
Leading the underwriting function, the full-time California Licensed Head of Underwriting will drive risk selection, pricing discipline, and portfolio performance while managing a high-performing team in a remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute underwriting strategy aligned with company goals and risk appetite
- Manage and develop the underwriting team, setting performance expectations and fostering a culture of continuous improvement
- Own portfolio performance, actively managing catastrophe exposure and adjusting strategy based on market conditions
Required Qualifications
- 10-15+ years of underwriting experience, preferably in property insurance
- Active Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance license, with the ability to obtain a California Non-Resident license within 90 days of hire
- Proven leadership experience in managing and developing underwriting teams
- Strong expertise in catastrophe-exposed risks, with wildfire experience preferred
- Deep understanding of underwriting, pricing, and portfolio management
