Job Summary
To support a healthcare coding team, the temporary, fully remote California Licensed Health Information Coder III will utilize advanced knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS classification systems to code and abstract inpatient cases in compliance with established guidelines and policies.
Key responsibilities
- Code and abstract inpatient cases according to official coding guidelines and UCSF Health policies
- Ensure compliance with accuracy standards, meeting daily production requirements while maintaining a minimum 95% accuracy rate
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) and encoder systems to translate clinical documentation into standardized codes
Required qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CCS, CIC, RHIT, or RHIA certification
- Three or more years of experience in inpatient DRG coding and abstracting
- Advanced proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) and encoder systems
- Ability to pass an initial knowledge assessment with a score of 80% or higher, or demonstrate relevant coding experience with an 80% accuracy rate
