Job Summary

To support accurate medical record documentation, the full-time California Licensed Hospital Outpatient Coder will code and abstract diagnoses and procedures for outpatient services, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines while working remotely from Northern California.

Key responsibilities:
  • Review medical records to identify and code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
  • Ensure timely and compliant coding and abstracting of records in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Interact with physicians to clarify and accurately document patient diagnostic and procedural information
Required qualifications:
  • Two years of continuous hospital coding/abstracting experience within the last five years
  • High School Diploma or GED with completion of relevant medical coding courses from an accredited program
  • Valid coding certification (e.g., Registered Health Information Technician, Certified Professional Coder)
  • Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and disease processes
  • Ability to meet productivity and quality standards for coding and abstracting
