Job Summary

Owning the legal landscape as Firecrawl's first full-time California Licensed In-House Counsel, the contract-based role will focus on structuring customer contracts, managing legal aspects of partnerships, and advising on web scraping and public data laws, while working in a hybrid environment.

Key responsibilities

• Structure customer contracts and licensing agreements to appropriately allocate risk across copyright, data access, and privacy
• Become the legal expert on web scraping and public data, leveraging this knowledge to create competitive advantages
• Collaborate with engineering teams on technical compliance and advise leadership on risk and strategy as the company scales

Required qualifications

• California Bar license and at least 6 years of relevant legal experience
• Strong understanding of data/IP, privacy, and technology transactions
• Experience with web scraping legal issues, including robots.txt and terms of service
• Ability to work independently and make legal decisions in a fast-paced environment
• Proven track record of structuring deals that effectively manage risk
