Job Summary
To ensure accurate coding and abstracting of inpatient cases, the full-time California Licensed Inpatient Coder will review medical records, assign appropriate codes using ICD-CM, ICD-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS, and interact with physicians to clarify diagnostic and procedural information, all while working remotely.
Key responsibilities:
- Reviews medical record documentation to identify diagnoses and procedures for coding
- Codes all appropriate diagnoses and procedures in compliance with regulatory requirements
- Ensures data accuracy and integrity prior to submission or coding completion
Required qualifications:
- Three years of continuous hospital coding experience within the last five years
- High School Diploma or GED with completion of relevant medical coding courses
- Certified Coding Specialist OR Registered Health Information Technician OR Registered Health Information Administrator certification
- Basic knowledge of reimbursement methodologies and coding guidelines
- Ability to communicate effectively with physicians regarding coding clarifications
