Job Summary
To support accurate medical documentation, the full-time California Licensed Inpatient Coder will code and abstract inpatient cases, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and regulations while working remotely.
Key Responsibilities
- Reviews medical records to identify and code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-CM, ICD-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS systems
- Maintains coding accuracy and integrity by verifying data and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
- Interacts with physicians to clarify patient information and meets established productivity and quality standards for coding
Required Qualifications
- Three years of continuous hospital coding experience within the last five years
- High School Diploma or GED with completion of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and coding classes from an accredited program
- Certification as a Coding Specialist, Registered Health Information Technician, or Registered Health Information Administrator
- Basic knowledge of computer systems and coding methodologies
- Ability to achieve a minimum score of 75% on the KP Inpatient Coding test
