Job Summary
The full-time California Licensed Inpatient Coder will accurately code and abstract inpatient cases from medical records, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines, while working remotely and maintaining productivity standards.
Key responsibilities:
- Reviews medical records to identify and code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-CM, ICD-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS systems
- Organizes and prioritizes work assignments to ensure timely and compliant coding and abstracting
- Interacts with physicians to clarify and document patient diagnostic and procedural information
Required qualifications:
- Three years of continuous hospital coding experience within the last five years
- High School Diploma or GED with completion of relevant medical coding classes from an accredited program
- Certified Coding Specialist OR Registered Health Information Technician OR Registered Health Information Administrator certification
- Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Ability to meet established productivity and quality standards for coding
