California Licensed Inpatient Coder

Job Summary

To support efficient healthcare operations, the full-time California Licensed Inpatient Coder will accurately code and abstract inpatient cases from medical records using ICD-CM, ICD-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems while working remotely.

Key responsibilities:

• Reviews medical record documentation to identify and code diagnoses and procedures
• Ensures timely and compliant coding and abstracting in accordance with regulatory requirements
• Interacts with physicians to clarify patient diagnostic and procedural information

Required qualifications:

• Three years of continuous hospital coding experience within the last five years
• High School Diploma or GED with completion of relevant medical coding classes from an accredited program
• Certification as a Coding Specialist, Health Information Technician, or Health Information Administrator
• Basic knowledge of computer systems and coding methodologies
• Ability to meet established productivity and quality standards for coding
