Job Summary
To ensure accurate coding and abstracting of inpatient cases, the full-time California Licensed Inpatient Coder will work remotely, reviewing medical records and assigning codes using ICD-CM, ICD-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems while adhering to regulatory guidelines.
Key responsibilities
- Reviews medical record documentation to accurately identify and code diagnoses and procedures
- Organizes and prioritizes coding assignments to meet productivity and quality standards
- Interacts with physicians to clarify and document patient diagnostic and procedural information
Required qualifications
- Three years of continuous hospital coding experience within the last five years
- High School Diploma or GED with completion of relevant medical coding classes from an accredited program
- Certified Coding Specialist, Registered Health Information Technician, or Registered Health Information Administrator certification
- Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Ability to achieve a minimum score of 75% on the KP Inpatient Coding test
