California Licensed Inpatient Coder

Job Summary

To ensure accurate coding and abstracting of inpatient cases, the full-time California Licensed Inpatient Coder will work remotely, focusing on assigning codes and modifiers using ICD-CM, ICD-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS, while adhering to regulatory guidelines.

Key responsibilities:

• Reviews medical record documentation to identify and code diagnoses and procedures
• Ensures timely and compliant coding of records in accordance with established productivity and quality standards
• Interacts with physicians to clarify and accurately document patient diagnostic and procedural information

Required qualifications:

• Three years of continuous hospital coding experience within the last five years
• High School Diploma or GED with completion of relevant medical coding classes from an accredited program
• Certification as a Coding Specialist, Health Information Technician, or Health Information Administrator
• Basic knowledge of computer systems and coding methodologies
• Ability to meet productivity and quality standards for coding accuracy
