California Licensed Inpatient Coder

Job Summary

To support efficient hospital operations, the full-time California Licensed Inpatient Coder will accurately code and abstract inpatient cases from medical records, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines while working remotely.

Key responsibilities:

• Reviews medical record documentation to identify and code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-CM, ICD-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS systems
• Ensures timely and compliant coding and abstracting of records, meeting established productivity and quality standards
• Interacts with physicians to clarify and accurately document patient diagnostic and procedural information

Required qualifications:

• Three years of continuous hospital coding experience within the last five years
• High School Diploma or GED with completion of accredited medical coding courses
• Certification as a Coding Specialist, Registered Health Information Technician, or Registered Health Information Administrator
• Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to inpatient services
• Ability to achieve a minimum score of 75% on the KP Inpatient Coding test
