California Licensed Inpatient Coder

Job Summary

Working remotely in a full-time capacity, the California Licensed Inpatient Coder will accurately code and abstract inpatient cases from medical records, utilizing ICD-CM, ICD-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems while ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines.

Key responsibilities:

• Review medical record documentation to identify and code diagnoses and procedures
• Organize and prioritize work assignments to ensure timely and compliant coding
• Interact with physicians to clarify patient diagnostic and procedural information

Required qualifications:

• Three years of continuous hospital coding experience within the last five years
• High School Diploma or GED with completion of relevant medical coding courses
• Certification as a Coding Specialist, Health Information Technician, or Health Information Administrator
• Basic knowledge of coding classification systems and reimbursement methodologies
• Ability to achieve a minimum score of 75% on the KP Inpatient Coding test
