Job Summary
To support accurate patient record management, the full-time California Licensed Inpatient Coder will be responsible for coding and abstracting inpatient cases using ICD-CM, ICD-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines while working remotely.
Key responsibilities:
- Reviews medical record documentation to identify and code diagnoses and procedures
- Ensures timely and compliant coding of records according to established productivity and quality standards
- Interacts with physicians to clarify and accurately document patient diagnostic and procedural information
Required qualifications:
- Three years of continuous hospital coding experience within the last five years
- High School Diploma or GED with completion of medical coding coursework from an accredited program
- Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist, Registered Health Information Technician, or Registered Health Information Administrator
- Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and disease processes
- Ability to achieve a minimum score of 75% on the KP Inpatient Coding test
