Job Summary
Working full-time during the day, a California Licensed Inpatient Coder will be responsible for accurately coding and abstracting inpatient cases from medical records, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and regulations while working remotely from Northern California.
Key responsibilities
- Reviews medical record documentation to identify and code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-CM, ICD-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS systems
- Organizes and prioritizes work assignments to ensure timely and compliant coding and abstracting of records
- Interacts with physicians to clarify and accurately document patient diagnostic and procedural information
Required qualifications
- Three years of continuous hospital coding experience within the last five years
- High School Diploma or GED with completion of relevant medical coding courses from an accredited program
- Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist, Registered Health Information Technician, or Registered Health Information Administrator
- Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Ability to meet established productivity and quality standards for coding
