Job Summary
To support the coding operations, the full-time California Licensed Inpatient Coder will accurately code and abstract inpatient cases from medical records, utilizing ICD-CM, ICD-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems while ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines, all from a remote location within Northern California.
Key responsibilities:
- Reviews medical record documentation to identify diagnoses and procedures for coding
- Codes all appropriate diagnoses and procedures using established coding classification systems
- Ensures timely data completion by meeting established productivity and quality standards
Required qualifications:
- Three years of continuous hospital coding experience within the last five years
- High School Diploma or GED with completion of relevant medical coding courses
- Certification as a Coding Specialist or Registered Health Information Technician/Administrator
- Basic knowledge of reimbursement methodologies and coding conventions
- Ability to communicate effectively with physicians regarding coding clarifications
