Job Summary
Responsible for accurately coding and abstracting inpatient cases, the full-time California Licensed Inpatient Coder will work remotely to ensure compliance with coding guidelines and standards while interacting with physicians to clarify patient information.
Key responsibilities:
- Reviews medical record documentation to accurately code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-CM, ICD-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS systems
- Organizes and prioritizes work assignments to meet coding productivity and quality standards
- Ensures data accuracy and integrity prior to submission, adhering to regulatory requirements and organizational guidelines
Required qualifications:
- Three years of continuous hospital coding experience within the last five years
- High School Diploma or GED with completion of relevant medical coding courses from an accredited program
- Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist, Registered Health Information Technician, or Registered Health Information Administrator
- Basic knowledge of coding methodologies and reimbursement conventions
- Ability to communicate effectively with physicians regarding diagnostic and procedural information
