California Licensed Inpatient Coder

Job Summary

To support accurate medical record documentation, the full-time California Licensed Inpatient Coder will be responsible for coding and abstracting inpatient cases, utilizing ICD-CM, ICD-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems while working remotely from Northern California.

Key responsibilities:

• Reviews medical records to identify and code diagnoses and procedures accurately
• Organizes and prioritizes work assignments to ensure timely and compliant coding
• Interacts with physicians to clarify patient diagnostic and procedural information

Required qualifications:

• Three years of continuous hospital coding experience within the last five years
• High School Diploma or GED with completion of relevant medical coding classes
• Certification as a Coding Specialist, Health Information Technician, or Health Information Administrator
• Basic knowledge of coding regulations and reimbursement methodologies
• Ability to meet established productivity and quality standards for coding
